Andrew Fulcer died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 22 after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) the morning of May 19, 2022. The underlying cause of his sudden cardiac arrest remains unknown.
Andrew had just graduated from Illinois State University on May 7, 2022, as a double major with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a Bachelor of Science in Finance. He was excited to start the next chapter of his life and already had his dream job lined up with plans to travel, get married and eventually begin a family. His smile and beautiful blue eyes would light up the room. Andrew was smart, gentle, caring and full of life with everything to look forward to. He was a loving son, caring little brother, devoted friend, teammate and a passionate Green Bay Packer fan!
From an early age, Andrew loved sports. He started playing soccer at a young age and began playing basketball as well in middle school, eventually playing on both the varsity high school basketball and soccer team. He had an amazing grasp of sports knowledge and loved to challenge others with his uncanny ability with stats. He could seemingly remember every statistic after seeing it once. This served him well for both Fantasy Football where he ran his own league as well when he was younger and spent some time putting on a weekly radio show, CK Sports, with friends. In addition, Andrew was an avid Green Bay Packers fan who never missed a game if he could help it. He was also a Chicago Bulls and Cubs fan.
For much of his childhood, Andrew was always the biggest kid on the team which helped him to excel in youth sports. Andrew was affectionately called “tank” or the “gentle giant” playing youth soccer. While he never played football, he was the perfect size to be a lineman, but wanted to be a wide receiver or running back. Although he loved scoring goals in soccer, he ended up playing goalie as his primary position since his size offered him advantages in being able to cover the net and intimidate his opponents who dared enter the “goalie box”.
As much as Andrew liked soccer, he ended up loving to play basketball. On the court throughout much of high school Andrew was known as “Big Sexy”. Much to his basketball coach’s chagrin he had a penchant to try to shoot 3-pointers and act like a point guard even though he was better suited to playing center and being the inside defender.
One of Andrew’s little-known quirks was the rate at which he could consume ice cream. He could eat ice cream faster than anyone and never get a brain freeze. If given a choice, ice cream was his go to desert. He loved all kinds of flavors, but strawberry cheesecake and cookies and cream were among his favorites.
Andrew touched the lives of each person he met. We are committed to carrying on the Inspiration, Devotion and Compassion he shared with everyone to Safeguard Hearts and Secure Futures!
