Our loss has changed our lives forever. Andrew was a bright light and inspiration to so many people. His story and legacy have become our mission.
Andrew's Assist is dedicated to safeguarding hearts and securing futures for young people everywhere. We work to educate and equip communities with information, training and devices that are needed in the crucial first moments SCA is trying to take a life. Through partnerships, community awareness and generous donations, Andrew's Assist will provide training and AED's to communities as well as heart screening to identify and prevent SCA among youth who may have an unknown heart condition.
Andrew’s Assist was established to honor the life and legacy of Andrew Fulcer who died suddenly and unexpectedly after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) in his sleep the morning of May 19, 2022. We had no idea Andrew was at risk of sudden cardiac arrest. In an instant and without warning, our world was completely shattered and will never be the same. We miss him each and every day.
Since that time, we have learned that SCA is preventable and is not as rare among young people as many may believe. In fact, one child dies every hour of every day from an undetected heart defect. SCA is the #1 killer of student athletes in the USA, the #2 medical cause of death in youth under 25 and is the leading cause of death on school campuses nationwide.
Andrew’s Assist was founded to improve the chance of survival among young people who experience SCA through proven primary (heart screening) and secondary (CPR/AED training, AED accessibility, Cardiac Emergency Action Plans) prevention measures so that no other family has to experience a devastating loss.
